ATTENTION UNINTERRUPTED
POWER SUPPLY
(BATTERY BACK-UP) OWNERS:
Uninterrupted Power Supply (Battery Back-Up)
has been included in many of Texas P.O.S. installs. With
this said, it is important that you know some key facts about
Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). Most uninterrupted power
supplies use external batteries in the event of a power outage.
These batteries have a life expectancy of about 2 years.
After this time period, these devices might fail to work.
In order to test your device, do a complete shut down of
any computers attached to the device. Remove the power cable
from the computer to the UPS and plug in any simple electronic
device (i.e. electronic calculator or a pencil sharpener). Now
unplug the UPS from the main power source. Did the device
continue to work? If yes, then you still have a working
UPS battery. For older units the battery life will degrade
causing shorter up times on the battery. If the device failed,
you need to replace the battery in your UPS. For replacement
batteries please contact a Texas P.O.S. representative to locate
the appropriate replacement battery for your device. This
check should be performed once every 3 months to ensure system
redundancy in the case of a power outage.
